Ham Radio: Workbench-12 Building the Antenna Analyzer

This week on the Workbench George and Jeremy breakdown what it takes to build the new HR360/K6BEZ Antenna Analyzer and where to find all the information you’ll need to make it happen!

The K6BEZ antenna analyzer will provide VSWR measurements for any antenna from 1 to 30 MHz.  Frequency and VSWR is shown on the built in LCD display.  Data can optionally be sent over the USB cable to a PC running a program that will plot the VSWR on a graphical window display.
The analyzer can be programmed to scan any sub band and has built in ranges for 160m, 80m, 60m, 40m, 30m, 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m, 10m.

News:  Antenna Analyzer

  1. Antenna analyzer boards sold out in less than one day.  Shipping started last week.  Next batch has been ordered and should arrive by Christmas.  Maybe we can ship them out before Christmas.  – board

  2. New web page with files www.360workbench.com

  3. Docs are posted:

    1. Schematic in .bmp

    2. Eagle schematic

    3. Eagle PCB layout

    4. Bill of materials

  4. Assembly guide

  5. New github repository for all files

Icom ID-51A Plus2 won’t deliver Access Point or Dongle functionality without DStar infrastructure upgrade:

GigaParts now carries Hytera DMR Radio Equipment!

  • Several models identical to commercial units

  • Must purchase programming cable from them to get link to software

  • GigaParts told me on the phone that they would be providing users with links to firmware on request

  • GigaParts told me that the radio had to have FPP and Wide Band activated by them and that it was not possible to do it via the CPS software (this seems suspect to me) – this means that you would need to order the radio via phone

  • Future models will be adjusted “amateur” models with frequencies locked out and some commercial features removed (like encryption, etc).

  • This seems to be a pilot
